Exception: What an Amazing Co-incidence
« on: June 30, 2006, 01:46:32 am »
I've got a problem here with Groudon199's Exception time.

http://www.soniccenter.org/members/groudon199/sonic_rush/bosses/exception/sonic

Amazingly he not only improved by nineteen seconds, but he miraculously tied my time. I discussed this on the IRC chatroom for a bit, and was offered the suggestion that it could have been just co-incidence.

I'd like for Groudon199 to explain the exact procedure in which he achieved this time, hit by hit, because my new method has yet to be discussed. Also, it's been discussed on TSC-IRC that G199 has recently often tied a lot of records that don't normally "tie."

Care to elaborate, Groudon?

don't complain just because he tied your time, maybe he knows the same strategy or has a better one.

I doubt your hits are frame-by-frame perfect, i'm sure lower is possible, but this is just a guess since i've never played the game.

Anyway It isn't like he took the record, your still #1, which isn't bad at all, just get a better time if you want to be #1 untied.

about green hill, I'm seriously doubting he got 0:24. The TAS strat is fairly simple to pull off, but not to the point where you time it just right to get full speed on the loop and grass, required for 0:24 (I did 25.5 at best)
The fact that the TAS was just barely a 24 makes it even harder to believe.

No more challenges.
SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT MY RECORDS!  Just because they look strange with all the ties means nothing.  If I see one more person complaining about my fucking records, I'll be very furious!

I'm complaining.

EDIT: yay honourary mention in groudon's sig <_<

This is a suspicious scenario.

Let's take the times away for a second - they're irrelevant to my point.

What I see is, someone who's overreacted to a legitimate questioning (and since Groudon isn't in the chat often, this was the only place to address this concern). Now that in itself is not suspicious.

You've now brought the book down on yourself by hiding behind the FAQ (which is irrelevant because we know the times you mentioned can be attained) and almost inviting more suspicion by your previous post.

I think an explanation is in order.

Its interesting you should say that, mike, as I mentioned (very) briefly in the chat the other day that Groudon seemed a tad too angsty over being questioned.

Also, the bringing of stats not even questioned to attention also arouses suspicion.

Yes, Groudon, it is true that I did tie Egg Emperor Dark. However, note that that is time-freeze based, and, believe it or not, would require extremely precise timing in the very beginning of the stage for me to defeat.  I felt that since I had tied the record, that would be enough, because going unnotably faster than ever before in the painful TBG-abusing style is not fun. /me just wanted a record fast, and /me had the power to do so. And I don't know if I did, but if I tied something else, it's either a score (which can usually be tied) or a painful time-freeze abuse thing.

I thought you were a nice guy whenever you came around, and possibly a potential Shadow competitor, but I can't help but say that I am suspicious also.

...its been 5 days with no response, despite this still being at the top of the topic list for this board.

Somehow methinks we'll have to contact Groudon directly...

EDIT: Read his sig, he'll be back on the 20th. However his sig sounds as suspicious as his reaction :/

Since the sig says he's back on the 20th, we'll need to wait until next Thursday. Come to think of it, he's been acting really weird over some mere questions about his methods. If we discover that some of his records are BS, then I might have to get the misfit robot island ready again (for fake boss times) or for fake times, the most horrible "prize" I've ever created, which is already fully written up, but not published.
Ever know what its like to get pwned by a book? Sonic certainly does.

Way to thrust me into it.

I don't want anything to do with the issue. The only reason I'm a part of it is because it seems I'm the only one capable of both identifying a liar (by times and actions) and following up on the issue without hurling abuse at everyone.

Let's go over the evidence.

But this Exception time I can't "explain" fully, because I haven't done the level in a while (hell, I can't even find my DS).

Like we haven't all heard this one a hundred times before... Covering your tracks pre-emptively, you're trying to make us think asking you for proof is out of the question.

Then could someone explain my 24 seconds on GH1 and Aitamen, maggot, and eredani getting it?

That's an easy one. Aitamen, maggot and eredani are proven top-level 2D players. You came comparatively out of nowhere. You don't just get 24.

I suppose next people are gonna complain about my Circus Park Hero time being the only one remotely close to yoshifan's.

What I want to know is, why did you bring this up? It's completely irrelevant to the discussion at hand, and quite frankly it's digging you a hole you're not doing much to get out of.

Next, people might complain about my ARK Normal time and score being so offset (time is in 6th and score is in 2nd).  Just SHUT UP!

Again, bringing a completely irrelevant level into the discussion, and that doesn't seem like that big an offset anyway...

Also, general note: Being aggressive with us gets you nowhere.

Let me state here and now: If you can prove yourself on Exception (and possibly GH1 24, but they're the ONLY TWO TIMES of yours in question) then SDM and the rest of us will admit we made a mistake.

If you just made it up, then we've got no time for people like you here.

Right now, I want to type something, but I know if I type it, I'll be on the hate list of everyone here.

That didn't stop you before...

If you just made it up, then we've got no time for people like you here.

Grr... THERE!  To avoid more problems, I fixed the problematic times.  Both of them.  So now can we go back to the way things were before these times came into the mix?

Is that an admission of guilt?

Okay, I'm off, it's 2:30am and I need sleep. I wonder what will await me in the morning... er, afternoon perhaps.

So you DID make them up?

Also, seeing as your not going to respond unless I mention it here anyway.

Regarding the PM I sent you.

Your old sig stated that you'd be back on the 20th and your prescence was not seen on the forums from the time you 'vanished' until today.

However, at numerous times between those 2 dates, you submitted tonnes of crap stats, mostly for SCD and SR IIRC.

So the question that Im putting to you, not just from myself but many members who noticed this;

Why were you submitting stats while you were meant to be 'away'. And if you had computer access, why did you not post in this topic regarding the claims against you in the first place.

Sorry, but to me, something doesnt add up here at all.

So you DID make them up?

Who cares?  Now, it's the past.

And that makes it less of a breach of TSC's rules, right?

When I said "away," I meant away from the forum.  And what up with the stats?  I just got those games.

I fail to see how you can be away from the forum without being away from the main site unless you purposely choose to ignroe the forum.

Again, something doesnt add up here.

EDIT: Again, the new sig doesn't help.

Is it just me, or after SDM's initial post has there been no further effort to request some kind of evidence of the times? I mean wtf guys. Srsly. To summarise this topic:

<SDM> lolwhat hey Groudon oh snap
<Groudon> what no what I have no DS
<others> lolololol fake amirite liek zomg
<Groudon> no u aaarrgh now i delete k
<others> so they were fake then lololol

That's a BS procedure.

Then again, maybe I fail at reading and missed something iono. As in why all the hate dudes.

Let's go back to the root reason I brought this topic up, shall we, Groudon199?

All I wanted to know is how you achieved a time like mine (assuming then that you were telling the truth). It seemed a little impossible from my point of view, so I sarcastically threw in a suspicious look. You, my friend, took it way too far. I bet, had you reacted rationally to the situation, you could have gotten away with at least some of your lies.

Many records have been tied or broken without a single bit of discussion (or none for a long time).

That's because I'm less active than you on this forum. And since when was there a statute of limitations on calling BS?
